The opening night of the FullDome Festival is dedicated to a special performance at the Jena Planetarium. The audience is invited to immerse in: „Konzert im Dome – The Visual Music Experience”. Original fulldome shows, never seen or heard before, take you on a journey through the art of sonified visuals and visualized music in 360-degrees, combining digital projection and spatial sound compositions. The pieces are mostly created by students of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and Music University FRANZ LISZT Weimar, with a special contribution from the „Imaginary Landscapes“ project of sound design students from FH-Dortmund in cooperation with students of ICEM at Folkwang Universität der Künste. The visual music works are combined with live acts from outstanding musicians performing under a sky of immersive visuals:
• Mukasa Wafula, PhD candidate at Franz Liszt Music University Weimar, with the African Litungu lyre and chants from Kenia
• Li PengPeng, master of the seven-string Guqin zither, with traditional music from China
• Prof. Günter Baby Sommer (Dresden), legendary percussionist improvising to live generated 360-degree-visuals by Bauhaus student Ionanis Oriwol.
The program will be introduced by Prof. Dr. Tiago de Oliveira Pinto (Franz Liszt Music University Weimar, UNESCO chair Transcultural Music Studies) and Prof. Micky Remann (Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Immersive Media).
As in the past years, the annual FullDome Festival at the Zeiss-Planetarium Jena opens with an innovative theatrical performance, combining live music, sound design and digital 360°projection.
The „Konzert im Dome“ was created in cooperation of HfM FRANZ LISZT Weimar and Bauhaus-Universität Weimar by invitation of the FullDome Festival.
